Welcome to Morningstar Mill

The Volunteers - Friends of Morningstar Mill currently work mainly on Tuesday and
Thursday from 9:00 till 2 or 3:00. Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Volunteers need
not come every day nor for the full day. People are needed in all areas of interest setting up
displays, painting, building all manner of items, giving tours to visitors, doing demonstrations,
delivering brochures, mowing lawns gardening - there is no end to the type of jobs to be done.
Special talents are great but just plain assistance is very much appreciated as well. People
holding
a piece of wood for the carpenters while they hammer it in place are valued. There is always
something that needs sweeping up or dusting off. If you do have a skill and perhaps can not do
the work anymore your instruction and direction of others would be appreciated. On open house
days guides and amateur historians play a very useful role in passing on the history of the mill
and the surrounding area.. Interpreters in all languages help visitors understand the importance
of the Niagara area in the development of Canada. We receive visitors from all over the world
and we provide free school tours especially to grade 3 pioneer studies classes. There is no charge to visit the mill thanks to the work of many dedicated volunteers. If you
would like to assist with the work of the Friends of Morningstar mill please reply to
info@morningstarmill.ca or call Gary Konkle at
905-384-2530.or just come our for a visit and make yourself know to one of the volunteers, to
see what you might like to do. All donations of time, effort or money are gratefully received and go to the further the
preservation of the site. Please come and join us even if it is just for a visit on any of the days above but particularly
on the Open House days when we will have the Mill running and the Blacksmiths shop will be in
operation and the miller's house built in 1894 is now completed and fully refurbished circa
1920. We look forward to
meeting you.Volunteering and Morningstar Mill
